Max Dupain: Lost Locations

Max Dupain: Lost Locations Exhibition

5 August to 21 August 2004

Max Dupain donated over 2,500 of his architectural photographs dating from the 1950s to the 1980s to the RAIA. About 80 percent of images have been identified but there are quite a few images where the location has been lost and we are asking the public to help us identify what they are. Many of those unidentified images include homes and abstract interiors. There are also images of unidentified churches, 19 th century buildings and unidentified Sydney school architecture projects.

Thirty examples of Max Dupain photographs were on exhibition at the RAIA Tusculum 3 Manning Street Potts Point in August 2004 along with over 400 photocopied images available to thumb through to test knowledge of locations, houses and architects.

Through the links on this page we have provided just a few examples of lost and recognized Max Dupain photographs. If you recognise a lost location send can us an email with the image reference name. Included are some well known views of the City of Sydney. To submit your lost location click on the email link. In your email give us as many details as you can about the location and include the image reference.

We hope you enjoy this online Max Dupain: Lost Locations exhibition.
