Launch of 2002 RAIA & COLORBOND® steel Student Biennale Exhibition

2002 Student Biennale Exhibition

The 2002 RAIA & COLORBOND® steel Student Biennale Exhibition was launched on 4 June 2002 at the RAIA Convention, held in conjunction with Designbuild, at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Hard copies of the 12 Finalists' work were displayed and, to highlight the 2002 competition's transition to the electronic age, an audio-visual presentation of their work provided a dynamic introduction to the Launch.

Graham Jahn, RAIA National President, outlined the history of the competition which has been supported since its outset in 1985 by BHP, and now COLORBOND® steel, and Manu Siitonen, Specifier Market Manager, BHP Steel, spoke on behalf of the sponsor.

Nikolauz Cheong Senglim, University of Melbourne, and Marko Damic, University of NSW, were announced as the joint winners of the 2002 COLORBOND® steel Biennale Prize. The forum provided an opportunity for the winners to take part in the exhibition launch. They will receive their shared prize of $8000 at the RAIA National Awards in Sydney in October 2002.
