FORMATIONS CATALOGUE Now available for purchase!

The Vernissage, an exclusive two day opening of the event, precedes the public opening of the Biennale and will take place on Mon 27 and Tues 28 August 2012, open 10.00am - 7.00pm daily. A great range of events will be taking place during the Vernissage in August 2012, as listed below.

The Biennale will then be open to the public from Wed 29 August - Sat 25 November 2012, open 10.00am - 6.00pm most days. For general information on visiting the Biennale please visit www.labiennale.org/en/architecture/information.

Austral Bricks Bar
Sun 26 and Mon 27 August

Naranzaria wine bar
Rialto, San Polo 130, 30125 Venezia

Austral Bricks is generously hosting drinks at the Naranzaria wine bar on two occassions on Sunday and Monday afternoons, providing guests a relaxing moment to mingle and enjoy views of the canals of Venice. All Australians in Venice are welcome to attend for a glass of vino or prosecco!

Australian Pavilion Opening
Mon 27 August

Australian Pavillion, Giardini di Castello

The Institute welcomes all Australians in Venice to attend the official opening of the Australian Pavillion. Attendees must either have a Vernissage pass or an invitation to attend. If you do not have a Vernissage pass.

Flash Formations
Mon 27 and Tues 28 August
Various locations throughout Venice

The Formations creative team has devised a series of Flash events which will take place in the evenings at scenic bar locations throughout Venice. The Flash Formations speaker line-up includes Aaron Betsky, Jeremy Till, Monica Ponce de Leon, Geoffrey London, Ben Hewett, Desley Luscombe and the creative team and exhibitors themselves.

To maintain the spontaneous nature of the Flash Formations, more details on the times, locations and exact speakers will be announced at each event held prior to the Flash, and postcards with information will be distributed on the ground in Venice. Details will also be emailed to those attending the Vernissage and uploaded to this page once announced over in Venice.

Commissioner's Cocktail Party

The Commissioner of the Australian Pavilion, Janet Holmes á Court, will host a cocktail party at one of Venice’s most exclusive locations, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. Tickets to attend this special party are available purchase; please click here to purchase a ticket.

Invitations will be distributed to members of the Venice Architecture Biennale Committee, Sponsors, Network Venice Sponsors, Donors, the Creative Team and VIP guests with access to Vernissage passes.

Italian Architecture Tour

The Institute will be hosting a tour led by Tone Wheeler, featuring stunning architecture that surrounds Venice in the regions of Treviso, Rovereto, Verona and Bologna. The tour registration cost includes bus transport, entry to museums and dinner at a restaurant in Bologna. Projects which will be visited in 2012:
