PRESENTATION: ‘Hits & Myths – the NSW Architects Act & Regulations’
We probably think next to nothing about the legislation that controls the practice of our profession. But understanding how it affects us is vital, both in practice management (‘keeping your nose clean’) as well as to get it changed to something more equitable for architects. This seminar will outline key matters for everyday practice; how the ARB interprets the Act & Regulations; the recommendations for change largely ignored in the legislative review; and more.

PRESENTATION: ‘Beyond the Sea’
Angus will present on how to develop a strategy for a successful architectural practice in an increasingly competitive environment. Is it possible to create demand in uncontested markets, or are we resigned to compete head-to-head for already identified customers in an established marketplace.

David Springett
David Graduated from UNSW in 1983 with a B Arch, B Sc Arch and Masters in Architecture, he has been a senior lecturer at UTS DAB Architecture Program, and also taught management and architectural practice Sydney Technical College, NSWIT. He has served on various committees at National and State Chapter level since 1988 and was elected as a Fellow in 2001, and now serves on the RAIA National and State Practice Committees.

Contract Administration can be much alike to trench warfare; David will deliver a tale of 'determination' and experiences from the front line.
