Chapter Council Election Results
I am pleased to announce that Karen Davis from CDA Architects has been elected as the new Chapter President to succeed Richard Crawford, who completes his term on March 23. Karen is the first woman to be elected to this position since the Tasmanian Association of Architects was formed in 1903. On behalf of all members and staff I congratulate Karen and we look forward to working with her during her term of office.
Karen was also one of the successful candidates in the Chapter Council election. However, under our Articles of Association, she cannot be a Chapter Councillor and a National Councillor at the same time, and so has resigned her position on Chapter Council.
I am therefore also pleased to announce that the 5 candidates who were successful in the Chapter Council elections are:
•Scott Balmforth
•Alysia Bennett
•Todd Henderson
•Peter Walker
•Andrew Williamson (re-elected)
These Councillors will commence their term at the Chapter Council meeting on Tuesday March 1.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kees Wegman for his dedicated service on Chapter Council since April 2003 and also to thank Mike Wilkinson, Northern Representative, whose 2 year term has also been completed. Mike has been diligent in assisting with northern events and activities.
Thanks also to Peter Scott for standing as a candidate in the election for Chapter President. Peter continues as a Chapter Councillor for another 12 months.
Richard Crawford was unsuccessful in his bid to become a nationally elected National Councillor but will continue his involvement on Chapter Council as Immediate Past President.
