ArchiBUSINESS - special seminar series - commenced Monday 14 February
The NSW Chapter is presenting four ArchiBUSINESS seminars in February & March which are designed to enhance the Institute’s online PALS course and provide a comprehensive introduction to the day-to-day practice of architecture. Each seminar runs from 6-9pm at Tusculum. A light supper is provided.
The cost for individual seminars is $60 members (all levels)/ $90 non-members - registration links below.

ALL THE WAY WITH SECTION J addresses key design considerations for architects arising from the latest changes to the BCA’s Section J
Michael Shaw (Norman Disney and Young) will explain how architects can develop building design concepts informed by the new more stringent glazing requirements for both non-residential and residential commercial buildings. Learn ways to document your designs without adding unexpected expense in glazing or redesign at the end of the design process.
The 2 hour seminar will cover:
· passive design principles for commercial buildings
· a knowledge of the new J2 glazing rules
· the impact of glazing orientation, properties and shading on allowable glazing areas

Tim Ward, Managing Director of Chetwoods Architects in the UK, will focus on the award wining Blue Plant Chatterley Valley Project which was the UK’s first carbon positive BREEAM ‘outstanding’ (Design) rated building.
Tom Fussell, Executive Director and Chief Architect of QLD Project Services will be presenting a case study on their Dandiiri Contact Centre (DCC) at Zillmere in Brisbane’s north, which at the time of its construction in 2009, received the highest Green Star design rating ever given to an office building in Australia.
The seminar will be chaired by Toufik Refki from the Green Building Council of Australia.
