Sustainability in Architecture
Module 1: The Big Picture

This introductory module to sustainability in architecture introduces participants
to the key factors that need to guide the practice of architecture in a world of finite
resources. What are the key drivers of change that will enable us to progress towards
a sustainable future? What’s the role of rating tools – and how do they work?
Presented by David Bennett, Co-Chair of the NSW Chapter’s Sustainability Committee.

Note that completion of Module 1 is a prerequisite of participating in Modules 2&3.

This second module to sustainability in architecture introduces participants to the key
factors that need to guide the practice of residential architecture in a world of finite
resources and the increased pressure of exploding human population. What are the
key components of passive design? What is a true sustainability and ecological footprint?
How can design encourage our clients to adopt energy-saving behaviour?

size.

do you sustain it? When is the righ time to grow? In a series of forensic presentations,

finding and keeping clients, CAD, adapting to new conditions and using their size
strategically.
