PALS is the Australian Institute of Architects' Practice of Architecture Learning Series.
Designed to assist you with preparing for the national Architectural Practice Examination!

It is comprised of 15 online modules integrated with face to face tutorials facilitated by practicing architects and local experts and held in the local state and territory offices. The emphasis is on adult learning principles so you study the online modules in your own time and attend sessions that give you an opportunity to gain expert advice, share knowledge amongst your peers and get in touch with a broad range of Institute events.

PALS has been developed by expert members who have dedicated their time to cover the full scope of issues that architects deal with on a daily basis in 15 self-contained modules complete with downloadable study notes.

Because practices are different sizes, work on different types of projects and have different levels of mentoring it’s hard to get the full range of professional in day-to-day work experience. PALS has been designed to help you complement your skills whether it’s for the exam, looking to take the next step in your career or going back into practice after taking a break for study, travel or family.

Don't forget that your subscription includes access to Acumen and lasts for a full year, so buy PALS now and start preparing.

Dates for tutorials are available on the course dates page of the PALS website or contact your local office for details.

"I liked being able to exchange my experiences with the other candidates"

"PALS gives a general understanding of contracts and standards I haven't used in my working life"

"I've picked up methods and tips from PALS, and from the tutors, which have clarified the legal position of the architect/superintendent, made certain procedures more thorough and more cut and dried - all in all, PALS has really given me more confidence and peace of mind. Well worth the investment!".

"I know a lot more now than I ever did and what I believe anyone could ever pick up at their work. We've seen many viewpoints from small private practices to large firms which is an invaluable opportunity. I feel more confident in my position and role in the industry and society in general".
