Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast Region covers volcanic mountains and bushland, distinct urban settlements and farmlands from Caboolture to Bundaberg. Architectural practices are tucked in valleys, perched on ridges, overlooking the sea or shop-fronted in regional towns and cities. We are a co-operative and supportive region, celebrating the many successes of our local Architectural practices. We are a hatching ground for good architectural ideas. We have regular Architectural Talks with varied speakers of note. By becoming “Coasties”, students and graduates can gain experience working in a diverse variety of environmental contexts, communities and practices, in the third fastest growing region in the State whilst also enjoying a fantastic and active quality of life. All of this and you are still only one to two hours drive from Brisbane! But why would you go back when the living is so easy! Come on! Start the “student sea-change”!
"Working on the Sunshine Coast as a student architect for the last year and a half has been a truly amazing experience. I work with a small team of people, dedicated to producing beautiful and environmentally sustainable architecture for clients throughout Australia.
I think that living here on the coast and experiencing its natural beauty everyday while gaining experience with such passionate people has really highlighted the importance of sustainable design practices - it's been a sort of all-encompassing life experience for me that I expect I would have struggled to find in the city. Apart from all that, where else can you get in a lunch-time surf session, hold movie nights on a houseboat in the middle of the river and go on site visits Moreton, Straddie and Fraser? I've worked hard, gained so much experience and made a group of friends who feel more like a family than work colleagues most of the time."
