Sean Godsell Architects
‘RECENT WORK’
Sean Godsell is considered one of Australia’s leading young architects. He has attracted international recognition for his houses, in particular for his innovative use of materials and bold industrial forms.

Projects such as Future Shack (1999), a prefabricated emergency relief housing unit prototype constructed of a standard seafaring ISO shipping container, and Carter Tucker House, a glass box sheathed in panels of slender cedar battens, have propelled him into international view.

His work has been published in leading architectural journals in Europe, the UK, USA and Japan. He was listed by Wallpaper* magazine in 2002 as one of ten people ‘destined to change the way we live’. Time Magazine named him in the ‘Who’s Who -The New Contemporaries’ section of their 2005 Style and Design supplement.

His work has been exhibited in numerous international shows. Future Shack was shown in New York, Paris and London as a finalist in the Architecture for Humanity Exhibition.

He has lectured in the USA, UK, China, Japan, France and New Zealand as well as across Australia. He was a keynote speaker at the Alvar Aalto symposium in Finland in July 2006.

Sean has received a total of seventeen local and eight international awards and he is currently working on projects in the USA, China and Australia.

Sean will speak about his recent work including Carter Tucker House, Future Shack, St Andrews Beach Shack, Glenburn House and Peninsular House.
