RAIA SIR ZELMAN COWEN AWARD: WINNERS FROM 2007-1981

The RAIA Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Buildings is widely recognised as Australia’s leading award for public buildings. Past recipients of this prestigious prize include St.Patrick’s Cathedral in Sydney, New Parliament House in Canberra, the Queensland Art Gallery, Melbourne Museum, Sydney’s Olympic Park Railway Station, Adelaide Botanic Gardens Conservatory, Stirling Station in WA and Bowali Visitors Centre and Headquarters in NT.
Architects to receive the award include RAIA Gold Medallist Gregory Burgess and Australia’s only Pritzker Prize winner, Glenn Murcutt, who has received the Sir Zelman Cowen award or commendation three times since the prize’s establishment in 1981. Melbourne-based practice Denton Corker Marshall has picked up four mentions in the past 11 years, Sydney-based Bligh Voller Nield three mentions, and Melbourne-based John Wardle three mentions since 2000.
