Bryna Lipper. The University of Sydney, receiving her prize certificate from Warren Kerr, RAIA National President, at the RAIA National Awards

Bryna Lipper received the 2004 RAIA Student Prize for the Advancement of Architecture at the RAIA National Awards held in Canberra on 28 October 2004.

The jury was impressed by Bryna’s role as initiator, leader, spokesperson and professional development manager for the major YBE 2004 student initiative in New South Wales, “Superstudio: Vision 20/20”. Her enthusiasm, commitment and dedication has resulted in external funding being obtained and four universities becoming involved in a major exercise reviewing the metropolitan strategy plan for Sydney. This project became the focus of a YBE 2004 City Talk sponsored by the Sydney Morning Herald giving students from the universities involved the opportunity to present their ideas before an audience of 2000 people and a panel of experts.

In addition to her YBE activities, Bryna has found time to undertake a range of voluntary activities including the SONA/RAIA Education Committee, participation in teaching feedback groups and, as faculty student representative at the University of Sydney, she has continually sought to assist other students and faculty staff to improve the teaching and learning of architecture by all involved.
