Standards Australia is recognised by the Government as Australia’s peak Standards body – it is a non-government, not for profit organisation that coordinates standardisation activities and develops internationally aligned Australian Standards® that deliver Net Benefit to Australia. 

 

It is also the nation's official representative at the International Standards Organisation and International Electrotechnical Commission.

 

Through the Australian International Design Awards Standards Australia promotes excellence in design and innovation.

 

The accreditation of other Standards Development Organisations takes place through Accreditation Board of Standards Development Organisations (ABSDO).
