Kathryn Findlay

Kathryn Findlay is principal director of Ushida Findlay Architects. Established in Tokyo and now based in London, UFA have been at the forefront of cutting edge design since they built the Truss Wall House in 1993. Findlay has developed an international reputation for site sensitive buildings ever since. Her practice has designed and built projects in Japan, the UK and Qatar. Her work has been characterised as ' Future rustic ' for its synthesis of traditional construction techniques and materials with contemporary forms and details. Her work is widely cited in international compilations of late 20th century architecture. Currently, she is supporting the artist Anish Kapoor to build the Arcelor Mittal Orbit the iconic tower for London 2012 Olympic Games. This involves the interpretation of his concept and translating it into an inhabitable building and observation platform.
