Previously known as S-Tute, this is a key student event held every year at the National Architecture Conference. The SONA Master Class invites students to come and participate in 5 tutorial sessions of 45 minutes where students will be able to work on a variety of briefs with the assistance and supervision of key industry leaders from across Queensland and Australia. This experience will allow students to see how different architects approach and respond to a variety of briefs in the early stages of the design process. The SONA Master Class will conclude with approximately 30 minutes of presentations from key industry leaders and conference speakers, each providing advice to students on a topic of their choice.

Every year SONA organises an opening party for students and other delegates attending the National Architecture Conference. Over the years this event has developed a reputation as a key event not to be missed in the lead up to the conference. The event allows architectural students and practitioners from across Australia to come together and celebrate in preparation for an exciting and inspiring weekend of architecture.
This year the event will be held in one of the craziest and most beautiful nightclubs in Brisbane: Cloudland. Among the large diversity of spaces begging to be explored, guest will be able to admire the 14 meter green wall, 10 meter waterfall, complete open roof and the 19,000 crystal ball bar at the centre of the space.
We welcome you to join us for drinks and canapés in what promises to be a wonderful introduction to an outstanding conference program. And if that’s not enough to convince you to come along, Cloudland will also be hosting a salsa dancing night on the same evening with a live band for all you dance lovers!

This year you will find a pavilion within the BCEC where students will be able to regroup between lectures and events. The SONA Pavilion is the result of a design collaboration between the SONA groups at each of the different universities in Queensland; a celebration of student work and imagination. The SONA Pavilion is proudly sponsored by the University of Sydney SONA HANGOVER BREAKFAST When: Sunday 13 May, 9.00am – 12.00pm midday Where: TBC Tickets: This event is free but registrations are required pre-event for catering numbers.
Join us the morning after the closing party and combat the hangover with breakfast provided by the SONA reps and student volunteers for conference attendees.
