Utzon Symposium, September 4, Aalborg
To mark Jørn Utzon's 90th year the newly opened Utzon Center, in collaboration with Aalborg University, will be holding the Second International Utzon Symposium on the theme Poetics of Construction.
The symposium will be held at the newly constructed Utzon Center and Alvar Aalto's Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum in Aalborg. This symposium will present and discuss current developments within contemporary
architecture, as a continuation of the inspiration and principles previously developed in the work of Jørn Utzon.
The Second International Utzon Symposium will bring together internationally renowned architects, Rafael Moneo, Gerard Reinmuth (terroir), Matti Sanaksenaho, Enrique Sobejano, Lene Tranberg, Richard Weston
and Alejandro Zaera-Polo (Foreign Office Architects).
The symposium will take place on September 4, 2008, and will be held at Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum (Museum of Art, Northern Jutland) and the Utzon Center, Aalborg.

The fee for attending the Symposium is DKK 1200, or Euro 165. (For registration later than August 15 registration fee will be DKK 1400, or Euro 190).

New Zealand Architecture Master Class, September 21-27
Attracting participants from Belgium, Italy, Costa Rica, Colorado, Amman, Australia and NZ, this six-day residential design studio is now 50% booked. Presented by Architecture Foundation Australia, this
year's tutors are Ian Athfield (NZIA President), Richard Leplastrier and Peter Stutchbury with convener Lindsay Johnston.
The Master Class is a studio-based program and participants undertake a design project based on the local scenic and sensitive environment. There are evening lectures by the tutors. The programme is open
to practising architects, academics and recent graduates - old and young. Participation accrues 200 CPD points.
'Ath' is a respected architect, teacher and NZIA Gold Medallist. Running a major NZ practice, he has an amazing house nearby built in the 1970s. Richard Leplastrier is a seminal Australian architect and
teacher, an Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medallist and recipient of the '2004 Spirit of Nature Wood Architecture Award' in Finland, (other winners are Renzo Piano, Kenzo Kuma and Peter Zumthor).
Peter Stutchbury is a multi-award winning Australian architect whose work has been published internationally in GA Houses, Abitare, etc. Lindsay Johnston is former Dean of Architecture and Design at the
University of Newcastle, Australia and his 'sustainable architecture' work has also been published internationally.
The opportunity to spend quality time with this team is not to be missed.
Access to the beautiful location is by boat onto a golden beach and participants stay at the splendid Awaroa Lodge - excellent food, wood fires and beautiful surroundings.

World Sustainable Building (SB) Conference, September 21-25, Melbourne
Held every three years, the SB conference is the peak gathering of the world's leading technical experts and researchers on sustainable built environments.
SB08 Melbourne will continue a traditional focus on technical developments and case studies. Auspiced by the Institute, members are encouraged to consider attending this important event at which CSIRO,

GreenFringe 08, September 24-27, Melbourne
Future Green Leaders and 2050 have joined forces to host this green building conference exclusively for students, graduates and young professionals.
GreenFringe 08 will take an alternative look at the new green building revolution amongst the next generation of property decision makers.
Conference sessions on September 25 and 26 will explore a wide number of issues facing the next generation of property decision-makers, including the changing make up of our cities, global comparisons,
government policies, finance and the challenge of existing buildings. A Green Star Accreditation Workshop will be held on Wednesday September 24 (at an additional cost).

Metropolis Congress, October 22-25, Sydney
