2009 Photographic Diary Competition - closes July 31
FACTION, the ACT based EmAGN group, with the support of Dulux, invites you to submit up to five of your best architectural images to celebrate the diversity and beauty of the built environment.
A wide variety of photos will be accepted, including images that explore building details, built landscapes, metropolis and village situations, famous Australian and international built works, as well as
lyrical built moments that celebrate the colour, composition, richness and materiality of our built environment.
Competition winners will receive formal recognition in the 'Architecture 2009' photographic diary. The three winning entrants will also receive a cash prize, and the winning image will be featured on the
cover of the inaugural 2009 Australian Institute of Architects Photographic Diary. In addition, 53 images will be selected from the range of entries to be featured within the 'Architecture 2009' diary.
Image credits, adjacent to the printed image, will acknowledge the author and image title.

Architectural concept design of Information and Communications Pavilion at World Expo 2010, Shanghai.
Project Background
World Expo 2010 Shanghai China will be held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31, 2010. The theme of Expo 2010 is 'Better City, Better Life', and the sub-themes are 'blending of diverse cultures in the
city, 'economic prosperity in the city', 'innovations of science and technology in the city', 'remodeling of communities in the city' and 'interactions between urban and rural areas'.
World Expo 2010 Shanghai is the first World Expo on the theme of "city", discussing urban life of human being. It will surely be a symphony centered on innovation and interaction, and will become another
wonderful dialogue creating human civilization.
As the representatives of information and communications industry in China, China Mobile and China Telecom will jointly establish a pavilion at the exhibition area of Corporate Pavilion, to participate in
the exhibition at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, and the pavilion will be known as the 'Information and Communications Pavilion'. Under the theme of World Expo Shanghai, the Information and Communications
Pavilion will comprehensively exhibit the all-around and far-reaching influences on the social life of human beings driven by technology development and industrial development of the information and
communications industry.
Through an international design competition, the owner intends to select an appropriate architect who can provide a design with best originality and sustainability, and who has abundant project experiences
in related fields. The winning company shall be able to, in a very challenging time condition, provide an architectural concept design for the Information and Communications Pavilion with the application of
available cutting edge technologies and materials, taking environmental friendly into full consideration, to perfectly serve the exhibition part of the Pavilion and ensure a smooth 184-day formal operation
with huge daily visiting traffic.
