New President
Alec Tzannes handed over the RAIA presidential reins to Howard Tanner at the AGM on May 30.

Howard has more than 35 years experience as an architect in Australia and as a board member of key state, national and offshore organisations including the Australian Heritage Council, Historic Houses Trust, Heritage Council of NSW, Art Gallery of NSW, the Hong Kong Redevelopment Authority and National Trust of Australia (NSW).

As Principal of Tanner Architects since 1974, Howard has extensive experience in contemporary and heritage architecture. His practice has received numerous architectural and construction industry awards for its work, and is currently focused on civic buildings, housing, education facilities and heritage work.

Important projects by Tanner Architects include work on: the former Bank of NSW head office in George Street Sydney, the Sydney Town Hall, Admiralty House at Kirribilli, New Zealand Parliament buildings in Wellington, the Icebergs Dining Room and Bar at Bondi Beach, Bondi and Tamarama Beach Lifeguard Towers, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as well as the Mt Stromlo Commonwealth Solar Observatory and Crawford School of Economics and Government at ANU.

Register for Centrelink construction & refurbishment

Centrelink is establishing a multi-use list for the procurement of architectural services and management of construction and refurbishment of Centrelink offices.

A multi-use list is a procurement tool available under the Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines and is intended for use in more than one procurement process.

Centrelink is keen to include local participants and has issued a Request for Application for Inclusion (RAI) in order to establish the multi-use list. The multi-use list will reopen shortly and be advertised on AusTender. The list will be opened regularly for applicants and continue indefinitely.

AusTender allows applicants to download RAI documentation electronically and receive email notification if an addendum to the RAI is issued.

An applicant must first register with AusTender, it is also possible to register for notification of future tenders in specific services (there is no fee).

The RAI documents will be available to be downloaded from the AusTender website in the near future, located at
tenders.gov.au.

While the RAIA considers it important to publicise events/competitions of significance to members, it does so in good faith, does not represent that the RAIA endorses the event/competition unless this is stated, and does not accept responsibility for the conduct of the event/competition process or value of the event/competition to participants.
