Technically, we have invited Benedetta. Via live telecast direct from the Barcelona studio, amongst the timber models and jostle of a working day, her other colleagues will be invited to speak about the buildings so that she can recount to us the practice ethos, the education, the cultural presumptions and the desire for life enhancing charm that drew the buildings into existence, the dynamics will be in a sense reversed….we will have become Benedetta’s guests. More inspiring than contemplating the buildings is comprehending how they happen at all. It leaves Lounge and Crew and us to ask; what is the difference between a practice with ethos and a practice with charisma? So how does ICT and BIM fit into all this? Does all this flourishing in Spain have to do with ‘collective belief’ or do the Spanish inimitably have the ‘smarts’? Go for it, after the Scottish Parliament business, Benedetta can handle anything.

Then that’s it. No anticlimax. When this session finishes the 2007 conference finishes.
