REWARD WITH AWARDS - 2007 Gold Medallist talks with a much awarded practitioner

Hearing from the annual Gold Medallist at the annual conference has quickly become a tradition….a very fine one. This year’s winner has a diverse cultural background, serious seniority and a keenness to reflect on Departure Lounge possibilities. He/she will be accompanied by a ‘heavily’ awarded colleague who together with the Question Crew and Lucid Loungers can approach; what does our award process communicate to the public (NB. not whether but what)? Does categorisation by building type dilute the understanding that there may be better versus worse ideas or better versus worse renditions irrespective of scale? How do we judge buildings that may have had their architectural value diminished by society’s procurement preferences…not by architectural under performance?
