WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF THE COURSE?
This training course introduces built environment professionals to the Humanitarian sector and identifies pathways for future work experience in development and post-disaster scenarios.
Further training will be required with one of the partner organisations before the participant would be ‘field ready’.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is aimed at mid-career design and construction professionals who have are interested in becoming more involved in the humanitarian sector.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING?
The training is an intensive 2-day course facilitated by experienced experts in humanitarian design and construction. The program is made up of a mix of ‘from the field’ case studies, expert presentations and practical exercises.
AWF and our training partners are committed to assisting built environment professionals gain skills and knowledge about the Humanitarian Sector. This course currently offers 11 informal Continuing Professional Development points with the Australian Institute of Architects Refuel Program.
HOW OFTEN IS THE COURSE HELD?
There are two courses being held in 2013. The first course in Sydney in June was very successful.
Applications are now open for the next course in Melbourne to be held on the 12th and 13th of October.

Professional Master Classes
The Foundation presents the two-week residential Glenn Murcutt International Architecture Master Class held at the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre, south of Sydney, an event held annually since 2001 and attended by participants from 70 nations around the world. Glenn Murcutt, Australia’s most internationally recognized architect, leads the program with other tutors Brit Andresen, Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury and, Master Class Convenor, Lindsay Johnston. Architecture Student Summer School
The Foundation presents an annual one-week residential Architecture Summer School for architecture students, at Pittwater north of Sydney, held each year since 2005, which has been attended by senior architecture students from across Australia and New Zealand and from many overseas countries.
