IN THE ARCHITECTS WORDS
Montego Residences Stage 1 is part of the Runaway Lagoons community residential development at Coombabah on the Gold Coast and is the first of seven stages in the project. A total of 21 detached and attached residences of one and two storeys and a recreation centre are included in the development. The waterfront houses are orientated to the north and have been designed to allow the residents to enjoy the lakefront location with expansive decks overhanging the water. Deep shaded decks and balconies exclude the summer sun while allowing the winter sun to penetrate to the living and outdoor areas. The drylot houses have private north facing courtyards and large open plan

living areas. The design concept has evolved from a coastal contemporary theme and a desire to promote a strong relationship between internal and external living spaces. The main entrance to the project creates a strong sense of arrival and this design concept is continued into the estate with each residence being identified by individual entry structures. A mixture of housing product types were developed to appeal to different demographics and to offer variety and avoid repetition. A consistent architectural style and theme has been adopted to offer a consistent and high quality appearance to the development and to give the residents a sense of community and belonging.
