Architecture Interruptus Ohio State University
Features documentation of Le Corbusier’s church of Saint-Pierre in the small town of Firminy, France. The project was commissioned in the 1960s and designed by Le Corbusier with a young associate, Jose Oubrerie, who is now a professor at Ohio State University's Knowlton School of Architecture and is finally bringing the project to fruition after years of delays and interruptions. 864 groups from 46 countries participated in the recent and largest yet  Parachute Pavilion Open Ideas Competition, which was organised by the Van Alen Institute(VAI) and the Coney Island Development Corporation (CIDC). The requirement was for the design of a pavilion, and like the more well known landmark parachute jump in 1939, it will stay on the island for one year. Entries were to continue the tradition of the competition, but also aims to revive the urban area and regenerate interest in Coney Island, resulting fresh attempts that stretch the boundaries of the traditional pavilion, and a selection of which are featured in this publication.
